Here are some basics that you can mix to craft your own menu:
Rice
Brown rice: rich in fiber, lowers cholesterol, and regulates the digestive system. Jasmine rice: Mmmh! Smells so good! A long-grain rice known for its floral flavor and soft texture. White rice with peanuts: a delicious and nutritious mix. Peanuts provide proteins, healthy fats, and fiber.
Potatoes
Mashed: a classic creamy side dish ideal for accompanying our “Meat” basics. Sautéed: with herbs, spices, crispy, soft. Ideal for salads or as a side dish for various meals. Gratin: So creamy, so flavorful, so textured! For those who love more intense-tasting potatoes.
Pasta Sauces
Neapolitan: the classic Italian. The “Nonna” sauce cannot be missing in your fridge. Bolognese: what if we add minced meat to the Neapolitan sauce? Meatballs: meatballs and pasta! The perfect pair! The softness of the pasta and the juiciness of the meatballs in one dish. Pesto: this herbal sauce is not only ideal for your favorite pasta. Try it with sandwiches, salads, and even as a pizza dressing.
Chicken
Baked: a classic option that highlights the natural flavor and tenderness of chicken. Grilled: a unique smoky flavor, juicy inside, and crispy outside. Curry: aromatic, spiced, exotic. Ideal for a dinner with an international touch.
Fish
Salmon (with miso sauce): the umami flavor of miso perfectly complements the natural richness of salmon, an irresistible combination of flavors. Prawns: these crustaceans are a marine delicacy, known for their tender and sweet meat. Their versatility allows them to be prepared in many ways. Red snapper: the red snapper, with its firm and flavorful meat, is a popular choice among fish lovers.
Meats
Stew: Slowly simmer the meat in liquid, usually with vegetables and seasonings, resulting in very tender and juicy meat. Roast beef: A crunchy outer crust and juicy, tender meat inside offering an intense flavor. Grilled: Enjoy the flavor of meat cooked directly over the fire on a grill, with a smoky taste and characteristic grill marks.
Tofu
In curry: Vegans, vegetarians, carnivores, this dish is for you. Rich in protein, low in fat, a good source of fiber and antioxidants. Stir-fried with vegetables: Firm tofu and fresh vegetables turn into bites full of wellness.
Vegetable stews & soups
Green lentils: A flavor that will take your palate to the European continent. Black beans: A multicultural grain; rice and beans in the Caribbean, Brazilian feijoada… in soup, creamy or loose, high in protein, iron, and fiber. Kidney beans: A cousin of black beans but more popular in dishes like chili con carne, soups, and stews. Squash soup: How nice is a bowl of nutritious, warm, and healthy soup, a perfect companion for any meal of the day. Lentil soup: “Tastes like grandma used to make”… a Mediterranean flavor that transports you to the home kitchen.
Vegetables
Steamed: A preparation that highlights the natural flavors and nutrients of the vegetables. Stir-fried: With a little more flavor and personalized touch: more pepper, a little less salt, with herbs, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Green salad: “Green, how I want you green” nothing like the freshness of a good green salad accompanied by your favorite dressing.
With salt, without salt, with a touch of sugar, without oil, spicy... but not too much, very spicy, grilled, gluten-free, dairy-free, ovo-lacto, well done, raw, “flip-flop”, crispy, to be soft, al dente, risotto-like...
That is the wonder of the basics, versatility adapted to your palate.
Let's talk, I'll help you organize the week's menu.
